Premiere: 90’s Kids – “Champagne”

By Ryan G

Some of our contributors have been involved with musical projects of their own. A while ago (I lost track of time), we got connected with Corey Mouch of Static Wonder, based in Cincinnati.

Fast forward to the present, and Columbus just got one indie pop band richer, thanks to Corey’s relocation to Columbus and drive to expand his musical endeavors. He is joined by Matt King, completing the package of this new project – formed this year at Ohio University.

“Champagne” is a track as bright and colorful as the forgone decade from which the band takes its name. The sound is modern, but there’s an underlying current of nostalgia that draws from LANY, The 1975, Walk the Moon and even elements of the disco era.

With Columbus producing pop-icons Twenty One Pilots, and now Vesperteen (who seem to be following in their footsteps), all eyes are on the central Ohio music scene, pondering whom the next big talent will be in the pop realm. We’ve got Captain Kidd, Label Me Lecter, TOWNeS, The Raquels, and now 90’s Kids vying for that honor – and it is our honor to premiere their debut single, mentioned above. Think these kids have got the goods? Let us know! And follow them on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. You can also find the song on iTunes and Spotify.

I agree the tune has a modern flavor but nostalgic . Love the beat and sound.
