Dioni might not be a name you know, but in truth she’s quite the prolific artist.
She has garnered renown as a voice over artist. She fronted the Greek group Astyplaz, which is still going strong.
Now, she is electing to show us another side – a soulful one. “It’s a Blue World” has existed in one form or another since 1940 when it was penned by Chet Forrest and Bob Wright. Later, it was made famous by Ella Fitzgerald and Frank Sinatra.
Dioni, heralded by some as a modern day Dusty Springfield and Sandie Shaw, is putting her own spin on the song. I think you’ll find it’s a fitting tribute. I mean, wouldn’t you be intrigued by a singer that can pull off both a throwback sound and open for 80’s one hit wonder Soft Cell? Her self titled EP will be released on July 14th. You can buy the single on iTunes here.
