Tuned Up refresher – what you will find on here

By Ryan G

It occurred to me today that I’ve never formally taken the time to show you guys exactly what kind of content we cover. I mean, we give some general guidelines of what we AREN’T, but here’s a quick rundown of what’s what.

RELEVANT DISCOVERIES: A Relevant Discovery happens when a Tuned Up contributor discovers a band/artist organically (not through a PR email) and wants to tell people why that band or artist caught his or her attention. The band doesn’t necessarily have to have recently released music or have a single that’s trending. Technically, this category could include inactive bands as well, although we like to be biased toward active artists in case you get the urge to catch a new act live!

CROWD SOURCED REVIEWS: When a single from a band with a lot of notoriety is released, we like to gather opinions from a mixture of personalities. We pick the most entertaining reactions to a song and post them on here.

SINGLE REVIEWS: A reaction to a particular song by one author.

OP-EDS: Editorials on a trend or hot topic in the music industry. Tuned Up strives to emulate the idea of “attack the argument, not the person” although it is impossible to avoid offense in the natural discourse of running a review blog.

ALBUM REVIEWS: Every writer has his own style of reacting to a recently digested record. Not everyone that writes for Tuned Up likes to include a numerical score, but when we do it is out of 5.

CONCERT REVIEWS: Reacting to a live performance. Photo galleries may or may not be included. I know that was obvious, but what did you expect?

INTERVIEWS: We like talking to personalities making waves in music. Sometimes there’s a specific event the artist is a part of that leads us to interviewing them, sometimes we want to talk to an artist just because. In any case, we think everyone has a story worth hearing.

TOO RANDOM TO IGNORE: News items that are notable because they are unusual. An offbeat news section for the music industry, if you will. Commentary on how it may impact the scene often included.

OTHER REVIEWS: Any music app, site, gimmick, or knick knack that doesn’t fit into an above category goes here.

Did I miss anything?
