What seems like a LONG time ago, you might recall us letting you all know about musician Cobus Potgieter’s ambitious idea to gather 5 people together to record a whole album in a month, resulting from  auditions exclusively through Youtube.

Well, the band is together, and tracking is done.

A total of 452 people auditioned, which was narrowed down to 14, and finally the band lineup we have now. Full member profiles can be viewed here, but the final list of members includes:

  • Justin Hicks – Lead Vocals
  • BJ Bryant – Lead Guitar
  • Evan Collins – Bass Guitar
  • Bear Rose – Guitar
  • Cobus Potgieter – Drums

The South African Youtube musician met up with all his selections on February 14th, and tracked the album between February 15th and March 15th. The still-unnamed band accomplished quite a feat, and to say we here at IATU are curious about the outcome is an understatement. The fact that five people were able to get through a month of grueling recording having just met a day prior is incredible and speaks to the power of social media.

Stream the final webisode of their recording process below and keep an eye on the official website for My Youtube Band Project and IATU for updates on this first of its kind record.
