MONOWHALES – Who’s There to Hear Me Out?

MONOWHALES is a band looking for light in the darkness, and their intelligent sound has been fixed perfectly. The four songs on their EP Who’s There To Hear Me Out? Propel the band to the forefront of their desires, and the act stands stern and true. Bountiful in its progression, the EP also delivers emotion in droves.

Musically minded, the band show their talents fully, creating a diverse output. The songs all meld together into a story-driven masterclass too, with many themes cutting through. This story tells of a girl living in her head, breaking at the seams, and as the chronicle builds up, we see how a disturbed mind works.

It is a captivating listen though, and that rush of intensity rises when the band are playing their instruments with fury. The opening song, Hear Me Out is an incredible, rallying anthem, built by a band which wants to clear their heads.  The musical foundations work well on Backbone, a track that takes the darkness to new levels. Lyrically, it’s intelligent, and the band throw down the gauntlet here, while showing signs of rage.

Flatbread shows a distinctive sound, as the percussion comes through brilliantly well. It’s a sad song, and the emotions take over. Again, the intelligence is commendable.

MONOWHALES do well to come out unscathed, but there are burning regrets trying to trap them. On this EP, they shout and scream for calm.
