If you’ve been in the Columbus scene for awhile, and particularly if you’ve frequented dive bars in the Old North and SoHud neighborhoods, the name “Yellow Paper Planes” might ring a bell.
The band bio for Teeth Marks explains rather cheekily that they formed out of a “failed band breakup.” That band is Yellow Paper Planes. Teeth Marks is more of a kick in the teeth than their creative predecessor though. On the band’s single “Tin Soldiers” which is premiering below, you are lulled into a false sense of security before the chorus shakes some sense into you. You didn’t really think a band with a name like “teeth marks” would be content to just meander along, did you?
The presence of fuzzy guitars is quintessential in the underbelly of the Columbus scene and Teeth Marks are no exception. In this track the desperation is palpable. You can hear the some of the fatigue and angst that comes with just having lived a little more life. Teeth Marks made sure to add some levity to the song with the music video.
You can follow Teeth Marks on their Instagram. Their full length album RAISE / WRECK / REBUILD / RAZE releases on November via the label Better Days Will Haunt You Records. The band will play an album release show at Ace of Cups in Columbus, OH on November 14th; supporting talent will include Liteweight Champion and Siphoner.
