quitters – captain are we thinking?

Punk rock energy and big choruses become relevant here. French punks Quitters stylishly command the room, and while their music seems to be the cure for the itch, their music actually pinpoints world struggles and mania in the mind. Their brash output is thrilling, and their lyrical forays are poetic, channelling great depth.

Melodies are apparent throughout Captain Are We Thinking? And the fight for clarification and validation comes in strong. And the band don’t want to feel consumed or put into a whirlwind of thick darkness, they want to feel the freshness of new love, and rare calmness. Breaking away from all this tension will aid them in their pursuit of paradise, even when the grind seems to never end.

The album pulses as the guitar riffs merge well with the loud, pounding, drums, and the vocals become a warranted noise, giving us the words that we need. Embracing music is what we all need to do in a world disconnecting from its morals, and Quitters can be the punk band of reason, the act which could burst the bubble to release the tension.

There are 12 songs on this punk record. Some Things Never Change begins with full throttle instrumentals and fight. That chorus embarks on being the best. Borders is a punk song taking influence from yesteryear, and the chug of guitar breaks in, while the vocals spit out rage. It’s an admirable stab at passion. Broken World opens quietly, and then the guitars hit the atmosphere. The lyrics detail a world deep in pain and misfortune.

Quitters is a punk band on the warpath. Their music highlights a broken world and the disarray it brings. Every aspect of this record goes against conformity, and that’s just fine.
