The Early November has always been a band connected to emotion, pushing their sound into the ears and their music has always resonated on a high level, making waves in an industry full of imitations. Their 2015 album Imbue is a masterstroke in lyrical prowess and melody, proving the band has the knack of creating big and bold songs which catch on so quickly.
The emotion is infectious as the band certainly prove their worth on Imbue, with soaring choruses and blistering guitar moments, sending moments of joy through the musical landscape. Though Imbue is loud, there are moments of tenderness, involving times when the world seems so unlikable.
Every last dash promises to take the breath away, and the band doesn’t throw anything into the fire or dislodge from what they’re trying to say. Imbue, takes on the status quo, and it breaks the conventions of normal rock music, as the band doesn’t just light their world up, but they leave a lasting impression.
All these songs mean something, they engage, and they are informative and lyrically detailed. There’s story attached to the set-up; a fable that matches up to poetic wonderment, and the band should be proud of this mark, this achievement.
The album has songs for all moods. The brooding Better This Way has a soaring chorus that would wake any ghost. The guitar sequences are hard-hitting, and the track quivers the spine. From the start to the conclusion, the song generates a deepness.
Harmony sweetly draws on emotion, and it conquers, providing the listener with a calm embrace. Lyrically, the song barges through the norm, offering originality even when misery tries to impact.
I Don’t Care has a wonderful chorus, perfecting the notion of melody. The band doesn’t collide with war here, but they tell us tales of strife and misery. It works on all levels, and the instrumentals blend in seamlessly.
Imbue is a masterful piece of artistry even to this day. It provides us with a story and reverberation, gifting us a loud but emotional slice of emo and rock.
