The Early November tries to trap their pain before it begins to become debilitating on their self-titled record. Every moment here is valid, and the band don’t hold back or dislodge from the work at hand, they embark on delivering emotional heart-pullers while retaining their signature sound.
That sound can be sad, but the act is brave, and they focus on leaving their mark on the people who choose to listen. Adhering to rules has never been the band’s jam, being held up in a box, has never been an option, breaking conventions has always been the act’s vibe.
Emotion comes in like a spark, and the band draw from their past, their actions. Lyrically, they explore turbulent times when the world weighs down, and the drama unfolds to create tension. The record has it all though, with honesty at the forefront, deep thinking as the catalyst.
Empress begins the record. It has flair and a wonderful chorus which blends creative guitar riffs with lyrics that tell us a story of fact. The world is in transition and The Early November have pinpointed this.
The Fool is a straight-up rock song, and the lyrics take on a new level. The burning questions are answered, and this rousing track shows real bite. Again, the band focus on the world and how it’s starting to terrorise.
The Higher Priestess again blends expert guitar sounds with a story profound in meaning. The act is in their element here, dodging clichés and putting their all into their muse.
The Early November yet again put out a record with fine details and a story of melancholia.
