New subcultures: Christian Raves?

By Ryan G

Raves have a reputation for being places of debauchery, seizure inducing lights, ecstasy tripping, and pounding bass drops. The mainstream acceptance of EDM is resulting in the rise of what might have been inevitable – Christian Raves.

Christians making electronic music is nothing new. Andy Hunter, The Echoing Green, Sheltershed, and Transform DJs have all been on the scene for a while.  Jesus Rave Productions in California is planning a major event to kickstart the scene in Southern CA in a new way. These event organizers as well as artists Transform DJs maintain the EDM scene is one of the most unreached cultures in the world. No doubt some naysayers will rise – they would likely say the reputation is such that Evangelical and EDM cultures cannot mix. But nonetheless, this subculture bears paying attention to. Hardcore has a HUGE Christian subculture, so it should be no surprise at all that the far more mainstream (albeit much newer) EDM culture is spawning Christian offshoots. Look for similar events to the one Jesus Rave Productions is planning to pop up all over the US in coming months. The organization has this to say about their upcoming event:

Jesus Rave Productions invites you to Jesus Massive Art Collaboration a fresh fusion of rave, tech-worship, art, and most importantly, Jesus. Don’t do the same old thing tonight; the man upstairs is doing something unique!

Get ready for a new scene… there’s a subculture rising up around the earth, it’s fresh, anomalistic, God is doing a new thing!

DJ’s from North and South America spin progressive ”Gosp-electro,” music never heard. Godly B-boy crews inspire while friends and family dance utterly abandoned in worship and without reservation.

Real-time performance art will be woven throughout the event, including holy, uplifting robotic messages, visual displays, and fire dancing. Freaks emerge and bring your artistic ideas and collaborations, painting, and drawing. Creative dress code.

We are a non-profit 501(c)3 organization. All profits from ticket sales will be invested toward future events. Tickets may be purchased via PayPal. Visit https://www.jesusrave.com/ and select our “tickets” page. PayPal can be used to make a donation in any amount, and please contact us for a tax-deductible receipt if needed.

Space is limited; don’t wait till last minute to get your tickets!

We will hold a canned & non-perishable food drive at the event to benefit the poorest of the poor in Mexico (see https://www.truthuncut.com/ for more info).
