There are no crashing instrumentals or bad collisions here—rather, a story of losing the faith and the will, the fight, and the dreams that should be alive in your head. Sombre reflections are explored and the dizzying heights of power have fallen, making this band echo their feelings through their brand of melancholic rock. Late Night Drive Home is a band reporting on the state of their world and the emptiness they feel. This emptiness can be a debilitating and even a threat to the mind.
How Are We Feeling? marks the skin of hope and leaves it bleeding. It’s an album brimming in rock hooks and punk sensibilities, but it’s also a collection sad in its execution. These musicians scrap for change too, and they want to see clearly through the smoke, bringing their music to the forefront of revelation. They have what it takes, and the rooms they find themselves in, the space where the walls are harder than steel, could be broken down if they use their strength and knowhow.
The music is a blast of rock wrapped in indie influences. Late Night Drive Home has taken their musical styles and has merged them together to create a hybrid sound. The technical, fuzzy, guitar presence is gracious and relevant, and the vocals aren’t totally masked. The album consists of 11 songs. “Awkward Conversations” sits perfectly. The guitar work is precious, and the vocals describe broken conversations. “Sleeping In Cars” hits all the boxes in terms of rock and roll. The guitar frenzy is unique too, offering that brashness, and the story unfolds. “Painted Lady” offers self-reflection and a soft intro. The sturdy guitar lines aren’t breakneck but subtle.
This album connects on a higher frequency. Late Night Drive Home has designed a record conveying sleepless nights and the state of love.
