The Dangerous Summer is a band collectively at one with their emotions, and it’s shown through thier artful music. The act, always try to nullify the pain and the heartache that they feel too, but on occasion it all spill over.
The band has released many records over the years, and they have produced many stellar songs in that time, songs which resonate the world over. The commitment they show can’t be understated either. The record Coming Home isn’t on a larger scale nor is it a completely new sound. It is their trademark style that has been polished somewhat, but not fully scaled over. This is not a bad thing, as the act does not need to compromise or prove anything.
The emotional twists and turns show clear diversity. There are sad songs and loud songs, but they all have the same agenda and meaning. And the Dangerous Summer knows they’re creating magic at every opportunity, and with every album they’re growing into seasoned musicians and their music is being commended wholeheartedly by the emo contingent and the rock fan alike.
There are 11 songs. Dimensional Love connects on a different level. It has those well tuned guitar strokes and well suited vocals. It seems upbeat this song, but it’s perfectly emo. Big Green Eyes is an acoustic song that perfectly depicts love that has seen better days. It’s a beautifully constructed track which has those trademark tones.
Gold Star yet again shows sadness. Lyrically beautiful and morose, it eventually lifts as the electric guitar comes in but the sadness doesn’t flake away. It’s a truly unforgettable moment. Wide Open is faster, and the pace doesn’t dissipate. The vocals lift, and the song seems more positive. Though, lyrically, it still has those raw moments.
The Dangerous Summer has created a record with their honed style. It isn’t that different, but its still resonates so much.
