Ryan Getz recommends: NEULORE

Several people told me this band stole the show opening for Andrew Belle last fall, so I finally got around to checking them out. What we get is an ambient folk-tinged rock band – a perfect opener for Belle. Add in a lot of harmonies and a good dose of energy and you get Neulore. Here’s the lyric video for “Shadow of a Man.” Portions of the song remind me of the band Guards.

Topher Parks recommends: METANOIA

Metanoia’s “Hope” is a driving rock song with a catchy guitar riff and a solid punk backbone. The lyrics are relatively simple, but that’s completely understandable since this is the first song the band has released in English. Their positive message in addition to the fun musicianship is what really makes this song stand out. It’s a little hard to believe that these Chilean punk rockers are fairly new to the scene. The quartet is currently working on the follow-up to their Thumper Punk Records debut Retroceder Nunca, which released back in September of 2012. “Hope” is available as a free download right here on the band’s SoundCloud page.
