A Wilhelm Scream – lose your delusion

A Wilhelm Scream is a band flying the flag for melodic hard-core, and their influence on the scene is massive. They’ve pushed the genre to the limits, with technical guitar trickery at the forefront and lyrics describing political grievances and personal hurt. With their record Lose Your Delusion, they’ve certainly dropped the pace a little, opting for less screaming tension for more fluency. This doesn’t restrict the band’s music in any way, but adds melodic underpinnings, which balances everything out.

And the punk elements are still there to be appreciated and adored, designed by musicians clearly indebted to their talents. Lose Your Delusion has so much going for it too, with every note meaningful, and colossal. From the start, it spearheads melodic hard-core to the forefront, and it tells tales of worthlessness and hardship. The band doesn’t hold back here musically or lyrically. They try to get their points across through harsh sounds.

Lose Your Delusion doesn’t fight against being raw and revealing. At moments, it’s a vivid portrayal, letting us visualise scenes, and it lets the listener catch on to the story. The thunderous instrumentals are always incisive, but the political base always creates towers of controversy. The band, don’t opt to create tension, their music just has a razor-sharp vibe.

11 songs make up this record. And they’re all fitting. The Enigma begins with brilliant percussion and a quirky riff. The song deals with cutting storylines, and the lyrics do not fail. I’m Going To Work It Out flashes like a vibrant light, and has been orchestrated well, with a spontaneous opening. The emotions are high. Lose Your Delusion is a fine punk song, spitting fire, and the instrumentals are fierce. The vocals are gritty, and the whole atmosphere curdles.

A Wilhelm Scream does not disappoint here. Lose Your Delusion cranks up the volume, and the fable ignites a feeling of fury.
