This is an album to savour until the last hint of sound. Lost Souls by Caskets is a story driven record brimming with hooks and melodies, and this band knows how to ignite excitement. This pulsating music is for the bigger stage. These lyrics are for the downtrodden people who try to make sense of the world. And through this sound, hope tries to muster strength, love tries to kiss elegance onto tired lips, and moments of tenderness strike occasionally.

These musicians hurt and they tell their tales through this colossal output of sound and lyrical energy. From the starting point to the conclusion, the record does not dissipate into a repetitive drone, it has measure and layers, levels of character and relevance. Breaking boundaries it may not, but as a collection of heartfelt songs describing woes and drastic dreams, it ultimately works.  

Lyrically the album fascinates. The words bounce off the page; they convey through their raggedness, times of hardship, broken relationships, emptiness. And these lyrical strands increase the tension and add stability, giving the listener an insight into a brooding world.

Caskets stars with The Only Ones. It’s a track that describes a mind shutting off. The chorus is a brilliant showpiece. Those hard hitting instrumentals raise the bar. Glass Heart is an atmospheric track full of vigour and intent, spearheading the record to the summit. The chorus is yet again scintillating. Lost In Echoes is another riveting track, punchy and raw in its excellence. The brash guitar sequences offer a base to the heavy vocals. Clarity begins roughly, and it becomes a go to track for the disenfranchised, with its hard-hitting, no nonsense approach.

Caskets is a band that has certainly lifted themselves onto a higher platform. Lost Souls is a perfect morsel of rock, a heart ripping LP of credibility.
