Chillwave Score Accompanies Virtual Reality Experience

Rob Kovacs has released the original score for the virtual reality game STRAYLIGHT. The soundtrack features 10 progressive synthwave tracks with long-developing melodies, ideal for looping. Kovacs heavily utilizes mode mixture and unsettled progressions to reflect the feeling of weightlessness and floating in the game. As a composer, pianist, and singer-songwriter, Kovacs drew on his study and knowledge of early video game music to create a unique sound for STRAYLIGHT’s world. This is his first time composing for a video game.

The STRAYLIGHT soundtrack is available for streaming, and the game was released on January 31.

A Vinyl preorder has sold out, but follow Rob on bandcamp to stay notified if more become available: https://robkovacs.bandcamp.com/campaign/straylight-original-game-soundtrack
