Colorsfade – Built From The Wreckage

Canadian band Colorsfade impact the scene they occupy with a ferocious record. Built From The Wreckage is their focused compendium, one that describes through unnerving lyricism the state of their lives and how the world has become beaten to the point of bloodshed. The album also has the instrumental muscle we expect from such technical players.

Through a grimy lens, the band sees their world subsiding into the gutter, but they try to make sense of it all, and this record confirms their resilient fight against lost hope, bitterness, and the fruitless labour of decaying love. Love has the right to be relevant in a world so demented by corruption, half-hearted speeches by arrogant politicians, but it really has lost its shine.

It’s a fast-paced record this, a LP brimming in well-developed guitar riffs and melodies. Line In The Sand starts the record off in style. A long but needed intro shows the band’s adeptness at playing their instruments. The vocals convey lost conviction and rallying contempt. Reclaiming Your Crown is a pile-driver of a track, pacy and well rounded, exploring addiction and its stronghold on society.

Roll Of The Dice begins with a brilliant bass-line, and then the guitars become catalysts, carrying the sound to the front of meaning. Again, the lyrics are dark and revealing, but ever so relevant. The band is intelligent, and this track is a reminder of that.

Society Is Crumbling opens with maximum volume, and nothing seems real, as the band claim here, and they may be right, as the planet changes faces.

Colousfade deploys tracks here that have meaning and intent. Built From The Wreckage is their rallying cry.
