i prevail – true power

This record by I Prevail reveals all about their hectic, chaotic world, and it’s a world that doesn’t run smooth, but is bumpy and unconventional. The band is angry at everything here too, and their music hasn’t dropped in terms of volume, as True Power has pressed against the nerves, and has made this band even more of a raucous outfit.

These tracks all have meaning. Some convey hardship, mental torture, and a world derailing. And the band have dug deep into their own minds and they have created a solid output of lyrics that tell us they’re not unscathed.

Hope has been abandoned too. Acts of peace have been destroyed, and I Prevail fiercely portray through their muse a certain hatred towards the hierarchy and the dark-side of this planet. If their minds had fuses, they’d be lit by now, to obliterate the evil that this world possesses.

The music has been well coordinated. Those punchy, technical guitar moments are impressive and the band has the ability to play these riffs with verve and confidence. True Power has statements galore. I Prevail have worked tirelessly on sealing their judgement, and the words may be webbed in rage, but they’re focused and relevant.

There’s Fear In Letting Go starts this off in a loud fashion. The riffs are magical, and the chorus is intense. Those screams add a blistering contrast. Self-destruction begins with a wrath of anger. The vocals are quick fired, and there are dashes of rap here to add contrast. The guitars augment the song eventually, and the track isn’t for the faint-hearted.

Judgement Day blooms and it is a track fuelled by adrenaline. The chorus hits hard and the vocals have the strength to break glass. It’s an impressive, but abrasive contribution. Closure opens slowly. The vocals are soft and the lyrics detail a hopeless time. The band open their minds here, and their hearts have taken a beaten. The song eventually lifts.

I Prevail spark a tale which could be revolutionary. Their music is loud, and unapologetic, but heartfelt at the same time.
