By leaning on the pop punk template but enforcing a deeper narrative, Like Pacific takes on the beast—which is tinkering with their mental health. The band is angrier here, nudging and pulling at hope for an answer to their feelings. It is a drastic change in direction, not only for the words that are used, but for the way the instrumentals bashfully play out. Sonically, Control My Sanity, turns up the volume to an almighty number.
The pop punk sound gradually falls into the sound, but as it climbs into the wrath of noise, the impactful reverberations outdo it. This album becomes a louder titan too. And Like Pacific, it should be applauded for diversity and ingenuity. Control My Sanity doesn’t sound like previous records either, as it focuses more on lyrical intelligence more so than limited wordplay.
For it being an angry album, it carries so much emotion. The band knows how to construct emotional notes seamlessly, bringing forward a balance of insightful and vivid snapshots. These snapshots may conjure up memories for the listener. And Control My Sanity shows maturity and workmanship beyond anything that Like Pacific has produced.
There are ten songs building up an interesting collection. “Love Them And Leave Them” triggers the emotion we all know bubbles and then seeps through. It has the typical pop punk feel, but the rage powers on, and mental health of these musicians is explored. “Hollow Tears” brings forward the pop punk tone. The chorus evokes rage, and the instrumentals are on high alert. “Waste Of Breath” reminds us of the mental instability. It’s a slower song, commanding the emotions to spike through. It’s all about blame and broken sincerity. “Adored” doesn’t stick to the name. It’s a powerful look at promises, and the heightened vocals tell a story.
Like Pacific looks at the void and tries to abstain from falling in. Control My Sanity is their juggernaut release, and it isn’t all about the music, as it also describes mental volatility.
