The emotion shown here is admirable. Australian band Mass Sky Raid search for a certain calmness amidst the ear crashing noise, and their hearts are needing some rest. The music they play can be somewhat pessimistic, but it’s highly enthralling, and it may make us listeners look at our own choices

Calm In Chaos doesn’t fall into a repetitive mess, nor does it have one dimensional lyrics. It has words that develop, that paint pictures of pain and despair. These lyrics also let us see how the band is feeling mentally and emotionally. The band is also supremely equipped to stand proudly and pass the assessments. Their way with their instruments, is like someone being meticulous with the way a room looks, and how immaculate it has to be. They take great care, and so many bands should aspire and take heed.

The music, as mentioned, is emotionally balanced, and the emotions can appear frantic and then spill over. Though this happens, it makes for an in-depth experience. The album begins with Arrows. The sonic influence pulsates, and the vocals do the same. The chorus bursts with intensity, and the lyrics convey inner dismay. The man wants to confess. Begins With The End begins loudly. Those vocals are like sharp blades, and that chorus connects on a different level. Regret has been confirmed here and the band tries to find reassurance.

Miracle is detailed. And the riff generates, while the vocal work tells us that oblivion awaits. The percussion increases the intensity. It is a gratifying listen.

Mass Sky Raid truly steps up on this release. And they haven’t left anything out.
