Glassbodies – When you see that a band is influenced by Circa Survive, Thrice, and As Cities Burn you take notice. We introduce to you Glassbodies from Columbus, OH. Their singer’s vocals sound very similar to Micah from So Long Forgotten (if you don’t know them, look them up). The song just has an untitled EP online right now (maybe they could be called demos?) but it is very solid. As with any upstart band, there are a few hiccups in production but it sounds pretty good for a first exposure to cyberspace. I would like to see the band play things a little less safe on future recordings and just be weird. Then you’d really have a well branded band. But this is a promising start.

Heart Attack Man – This band from NE Ohio tongue in cheek labels themselves “grind core” on their Facebook page. Thank the powers that be that they aren’t! Their songs are unpredictable yet accessible. The songs have the amplitude of shoegaze, the passion of emo, the vocals of good old fashioned rock and roll. The band is loud and proud and looking to take over. They are touring with Runaway Brother this winter. Listen to the short but sweet “Undoubtedly” below, which although clocking in under two minutes, lingers on each riff and yell.
