All Hallowed, the fuzzy dance punk trio from the Dayton, OH area is back! Although they never really went away to be fair.
The “elder emo” nostalgia revival has been going on for several years now. The continued success of the When We Were Young Fest as well as the three Vans Warped Tour festivals show that the movement has no sign of slowing down. Millennials are grown up and more nostalgic than ever, and Gen Z and Alpha are discovering what brought us so much happiness and catharsis when we were in high school.
All Hallowed, previously named an Ohio Band to Watch (and handpicked by us to appear at our booking debut at Audiofeed Festival) are adding their own twist. “Miss Murder” by AFI is an iconic track that could arguably appear on the proverbial Mount Rushmore of Elder Emo Songs. The emo to indie-garage-fuzz pipeline is real, especially for my peers. All Hallowed is savvy and is releasing a cover of this song – tackling the best of both worlds.
If loud distorted guitars and mildly unsettling angst in vocals are your poison, you’ll find something to enjoy here. The band collaborated with Brandon Lewis of the quickly rising punk-centric label, the aptly named Punkerton Records, on the artwork for the single!
Stream the song below. And then make plans to catch All Hallowed live. Dates are listed below as well! And, make sure you give the band a follow on Instagram. Please consider purchasing the song on bandcamp – 100 percent of the proceeds go to 988lifeline.org in honor of Suicide Prevention Month. Purchase it here.
