It may sound elegant at times, when those vocals come in gently, but when it’s all assessed deeply, there’re times when the music becomes melancholic. And The Joy Formidable is a band which has profoundly placed their souls into their music, and the lyrics tell us that everything isn’t perfect. These tracks which make up Into The Blue detail honesty and times when hope gets buried deep.

Not every song has that morose slant. Though, that’s true, underneath it all, flourishing darkness imposes, spreading throughout the contributions. And The Joy Formidable is an act forming every track with intricate details, great structure, and emotional twists. The guitar moments are technical also, blossoming as the dominant vocal work empowers.

Into The Blue is a remarkable release by a band on a high. It may catch the listener off guard too, with those beautiful sequences soaring into the atmosphere. It isn’t a casual album either, and it isn’t full of filler. Every song has its place, and they’ve been constructed perfectly. And lyrically, we’re taken into a world shuddering and beaten as the glow tries to tackle the darkness.

The title track opens the album. It’s a guitar driven, sombre song, executed brilliantly. The soft vocals rise on occasion, and it all falls into a beautiful crescendo. Interval starts in a similar fashion, fundamentally showcasing tight instrumentals and subtle vocals. It shifts into a wonderful chorus. Somewhere New is an acoustic track boasting echoes. The lyrics describe morose times, and the vocals escalate into a higher tone. Left Too Soon breaks hearts, and is an acoustic sound offers sublime, but solemn moments.      

The Joy Formidable is a band rising up at every opportunity, declaring their love for their craft and music as a whole. Into The Blue is their tour de force.
