Colour & Shade – Equilibrium
Channelling their aggression through their highly intense music, Colour & Shade does not bombard the limelight but craves the nights where people will delve straight first into the sound of reason. The act tries to nullify impulses connected to hurt, and at moments they do so until the hurricane of agony pounds in. The band’s new song “Equilibrium” showcases a stupendous chorus and guitar trickery beyond the basics, and with their lyrics pointing at despair and misfortune, all hope seems to be crushed. It is a truly a sincere track from a band about to blow up.
Like Moths To Flames – Inherit The Tragedy
Under the weight of powerful and intricate guitars, there are moments when sincerity and compassion fondle the undercurrent of this band’s broken world. Soft vocals appear, but it is the harshness that becomes the centrepiece. Scars are explored, emptiness engulfs, and the lyrical content is not for the faint-hearted. True in its exploration, “Inherit The Tragedy” is a stark listen, but one that brings Like Moths To The Flames to the forefront once more.
One Last Night – Winter
Wound’s itch and dreams become obsolete. Darkness exudes here too, spreading across the board. One Last Night looks for a crystal ball to see their futures. Destructive in their ways, they also bring forward a brash sound, twining together evocative lyricism with energetic instrumentals. This band is young and has a fruitful future, and “Winter” shows a tender side even though it is beneath a current of sound.
Paerish – Journey Of The Prairie King
Grinding out the storm is what Paerish does so well. Their sound is melodic, exploring different textures and harmonies, powerfully exhibiting original, though pessimistic, arrangements. The difference here is that this band pours their souls into this gritty, grungy vibe, and it all ticks. “Journey Of A Prairie King” will remind the people of days gone by, the days when hearts were in it, and music showed talent over the quick buck.
Rise Against – The Numbers.
Rise Against needs no introduction. The Chicago outfit sparks the order with their new single “The Numbers.” Charged and evocative, slightly controversial, the band twist and turns the screws, and gives the rock fan a voice. Purely political, “The Numbers” offers engaging guitars riffs and impeccably sourced lyricism, pointing towards the higher ground. Again, they deliver.
