Emotion has been fully instilled on this album by Tiny Moving Parts, and as cathartic as it is, the band is just glad to be alive and making music. The act has always been drawn to the poignant side of things, and their self-titled record has similarities to previous contributions, but it isn’t a repetitive or dull listen.
The band has worked heavily on the guitar, wonderment for this one, and even though they didn’t need to tweak their sound, it’s good to see they’ve added fresh tones. And you can’t deny the act’s lyrical prowess, as they know how to create sequences of brilliance, words that describe heartbreak, and emotional differences.
The emotion runs deep throughout, and Tiny Moving Parts is at one with their feelings. They always embark on telling their stories, which at times can be bleak, unsettling and unnerving, but relevant to their decisive art. Decibel starts the record off. It’s loud and frantic, and the past is brought to the front. The band offer their all here, and the instrumentals feature rocous tones. It’s a perfect beginning.
Tangled Up is an emotional track, detailing broken hope. The act try to find a way out of their own heads. The chorus is intense and revealing. Downhill Spiral epitomises the moroseness the band feels. The lyrics offer a story of drowning under the weight of your own emotions. The quirky riffs show great technique. Bad Trip is another emotional track baring all. Love has no answers, and the band feels downtrodden. Human existence is questioned too. Its song offering sonic value.
Tiny Moving Parts yet again show their melancholic side with their self-titled LP. It’s a roller coaster ride of emotions.
